Art For the World - MORO EDIT

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 5, 2009, 12:53 PM

EDIT

PHEW it's nice to be back! What happened was, I reinstalled my operating system to get it to run faster on.....the Sunday before Thanksgiving? All right! So my computer was totally clean, OF COURSE I made a backup. WARNING TO VISTA USERS: the backup included with vista doesn't know how to read the backed-up files off of an external, don't make the same mistake, because for a good hour I was pretty sure I'd LOST EVERYTHING D: (though I didn't trust vista anyway and did some drag and drop lol 6u9) So I was trying to put everything back together aaaaaand on Tuesday my screen goes black. Computer stays on, screen black.

Unfortunately I didn't have time to get Dell to come and fix it until this week, called Satruday, and he came Tuesday. And I would have been here faster, had I not been
raging sick.

So here I am! I know I missed out on everything cool guys, so if you drew something really cool (or did something cool, or know something cool), pass it up to me! I wanna see!

Also I got :icontikall: to paste the stuff below for me (thanks!), I feel really bad that it wasn't done before. The Art for the World thing is super cool, and also...

I'm in it 8D!!! not that anyone gets profit from it, but come on man, there's neat stuff in there!

Note: just after I was like "boohoo my sub went out" :iconshinerai: bought me another sub XD <333 thank you so much dove! So once I get this painting (pre-crash painting) finished, I'll start on the neato css styles C: mine's sort of falling apart, so I'll probably just show off whatever I make here XD

Art For The World

The Art For the World project contains the work of 42 artists who have come together to create a beautiful art book to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which is dedicated to fight against breast cancer, and the ARTS: A Reason To Survive organization, which provides free art programs to children facing life challenges.

Not only will 100% of the proceeds be donated to charity, but also I've worked hard to make sure this is a high quality book. It is composed of forty-two 8.5x11 inch full color images printed on 100# gloss enamel paper and is for sale for only $25 for anyone in the United States! (Free Shipping!) Think about it, that's less than $1 per image!

What are you waiting for? Go get your copy!

casserole eternity

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 18, 2009, 4:51 PM

Allo allo, I realized that my sub's gonna run out in two weeks and I will probably be all :T and just go without it because I'm unwilling to give anything to get it DOHOHOHO! I can probably program a new journal skin without having a sub anyway. I sort of meant to make one to share with everyone, how do you guys feel about Ico/Shadow of the Colossus/The Last Guardian? @u@;;

But since I have one now, I wanted to mention a couple of things WITH THUMBS.

RAN-CHAN

I'm really proud of this painting. |: This may not make sense, but I haven't done something like this in a really, really long time. Since...maybe I first got here. Someone's always helped me with the things that come out well, and half the time I'm just coloring someone else's lines (of my characters lol ~boxedlemon is my people person usually ). This is really big to me, especially since I just made a life-changing decision about art. TOTALLY CHANGED THE FUTURE.

I'm really thankful it was so well-received, so to the section of the venn diagram where the people who read my journals and the people who looked at the picture cross, thank you very much!! <3

Rangirae's a pretty good excuse to be silly too.

TEE HEE BEST FRIENDS OR SOMETHING MORE (NO THEY AREN'T LOL)

Cirlyro

I've totally re-fallen in love with Cirlyro (not that I ever fell out). I dunno if anyone else has their characters practically breathing inside of them, I'm sure some people do, but man the more I think about her I just...love her, want to flesh her out more in drawings so that other people can see what I see (as best as my goofy little pincers can work a pen anyway).

I like to develop my characters a whole lot (they are, DARE I SAY, PRETTY WELL DEVELOPED), but she's probably the one with the most stuff going on in her life, and the most emotions running through her. I don't know how many people know what she is, what she does? but to most of the world in her story, she's the boogeyman. She's the fear that roams the streets, the threat to make children come back before dark.

I mean come on ;_______;!!!

Oh I made a casserole, forgetting I live by myself. Imagine me eating this taco casserole everyday with a face like this TT______TT

Sort of.

So, I actually have some things to say today. I never share opinions on things anymore, on DA or with most people, but I let some things up and have a couple of things to...well, not rant, but empathetically talk about |:

First of all, this news article about Ninja Assassin Brings Skins To All that everyone got in their inbox? I thought it was fantastic, and I'm being very honest here. dA found a company to support them, and the marketing strategy is to let users use skins for a while, any skins until the promo is over. I'd do it just for fun! And subscribed users don't even see the ads, so what's the harm anyway? It's like getting a free shirt from a promotional event, it may have a "I GAVE BLOOD BUY BUTTERFINGER BARS" logo all over it, but it's a free flippin' shirt, and man I'm wearing that thing to bed.

I started reading the comments and realized that people are getting confused and...feeling very entitled. And then I saw the word "sheep" and realized what this has created: A GIANT TROLL NEST. So I guess what I mean to say is, use it if you like, but don't complain if you don't want to use it. It's just a promotion you don't even have to support, and if I get accused of kissing ass one more time for defending companies, so help me I will invent a way to go back in time and bring Darth Vader here. I think we'd all like a personal Darth Vader to strangle people through the internet, sometimes.

Movies

First I'm going to talk about Paranormal Activities because I care much less about it. Dudes, it really scared me, I went in there with only my dad's fatherly assurance that "Oh it was so messed up I can't talk about this anymore ;_____; " . But the best part for me was, the movie is filmed on a single camera, and after it ended, the projectionist let us sit in the dark with the camera running for about THREE MINUTES. And that was probably the worst. And I got outside and there's an old man standing directly behind my car, staring at it...for a few minutes. Finally he turns and walks away. That was creepy!

I can't totally defend the ending of it, but it makes sense if you ever listen to a word the girlfriend says. Got home, looked it up for images or something, and realized people are complaining it's too slow. REALLY. YOU ARE COMPLAINING A SUSPENSE/HORROR MOVIE....IS TOO SLOW.

To be fair, I really like scenes of just looking at things. I don't know what everyone else's imagination is doing, but I'm looking for things moving in the background and thinking about the possible DEEP meanings and whatever.

Wild Things

Speaking of DEEP. No, really, all the reviews calling this boring, empty, and so on are just...wrong. I mean, they may have been bored, but gosh man, were you really trying to be bored? I read a review by Movie Mom (or one of them anyway), whose kids were sad that the monsters were sad, and she suggested that the mom was a bad parent, and Max needed therapy. This made me so mad, you know, because she missed the entire point. Most people have read the book, right? Just 10 sentences. And this movie makes it into something more, a very rich, beautiful story that you can't just look at on the surface.

Every little facet of the monsters and their world reflects Max and his world, everything that happens and every reaction is his way of dealing with his problems. He comes out having learned something, and returns to his mom and yes, the soup was still hot. I just--I don't get where everyone's imagination has gone. D:

It's not lame to care about things anymore, you know? So, anyway, I very much recommend Where the Wild Things Are, to you guys, because people who come here and stare at these dragons and all have really got to have something awesome inside them. c:

IT SPEAKS, RIGHT? I feel quite a bit better now.

Happy Halloween + New Dudes

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 31, 2009, 12:05 PM

CHILDRENS

You know what, this is my first time being out by myself, I'm almost afraid of children stopping by tonight--hope I have enough candy and all that.
Is anyone dressing up or trick or treating? Tell me! :D I'm not doing anything, so let me know what you're doing on this most creepy of days!

(I'm going to be a monster. *Tikall said I'm not human for not liking music, :'c)

Fittingly, I have two new characters to introduce later today that seem like they wandered right out of Halloween--they didn't, they wandered out of the Underworld XD but I've been holding them back because...they're just sketches and I don't know if I can draw anymore. But I think it would be fun to share, you know? I might post up some monster/animal concepts, too. Can't promise high quality on any of this but you know what? It's your own fault for watching me |: No really I'm sorry. XD At least I never submit anything anymore?...

Resolution

Journal Entry: Sun Oct 4, 2009, 9:30 AM

Just an update on the situation with my car: it's a big toaster.
I got a new car, same make and model, but a year 2002 and a "beige" color. It might have a few quirks, but I hope to get them taken care of. I'm about $5000 in debt to my 'rents though, but I appreciate them lending me money for this. I would have been so screwed otherwise :c

I kinda want to name him something other than "little brother", though, as I already call my little brother (who is 19) that. Anyone else ever name their cars?

Also, I'm doing my best at work. I work at Reynolds & Reynolds, an dealership solutions company, doing web development work. It's not very inspiring, in fact it can get really dull and frustrating, but I'm good enough at it, I hope. Some people were asking me what I do before, I wasn't sure what I could say! TOP SECRET.

I haven't drawn much lately, and what I do have is so unfinished I would have to put it into scraps. I feel kinda bad, looking at how I've done absolutely nothing since I moved. Besides, they aren't dragons, so....I'll just come back when I have some. :c

I get tagged for things all the time, I'm sorry I never do them. I've been tagged by at least four people for the "X things you didn't know about me", so I'm gonna list a few things. Don't feel obligated to read them.
  • I try to impress motorcyclists with my musical choices, but I assume they like classic rock for some reason---I doubt it ever works.

  • I do my laundry like people wish they could do laundry: all of it in the washer, then all of it in the dryer. *this one is boring

  • I love lying on things. I know it makes me sound lazy, but I really want one of those massage chairs you can stick your face through and just do everything like that. Something about lying down, man.

  • I really like synchronized things. People clapping in rhythm, even.

  • I don't really like music. I like songs well enough, but I can't do anything while music is playing, it's too distracting.

I gotta stop that |: I am like....supernaturally boring. It's a power now. Sorry, taggers. </di>
