So, I actually have some things to say today. I never share opinions on things anymore, on DA or with most people, but I let some things up and have a couple of things to...well, not rant, but empathetically talk about |:
First of all, this news article about Ninja Assassin Brings Skins To All that everyone got in their inbox? I thought it was fantastic, and I'm being very honest here. dA found a company to support them, and the marketing strategy is to let users use skins for a while,
any skins until the promo is over. I'd do it just for fun! And subscribed users don't even see the ads, so what's the harm anyway? It's like getting a free shirt from a promotional event, it may have a "I GAVE BLOOD BUY BUTTERFINGER BARS" logo all over it, but it's a free flippin' shirt, and man I'm wearing that thing
to bed.
I started reading the comments and realized that people are getting confused and...feeling very entitled. And then I saw the word "sheep" and realized what this has created: A GIANT TROLL NEST. So I guess what I mean to say is, use it if you like, but don't complain if you don't want to use it. It's just a promotion you don't even have to support, and if I get accused of kissing ass one more time for defending companies, so help me I will invent a way to go back in time and bring Darth Vader here. I think we'd all like a personal Darth Vader to strangle people through the internet, sometimes.
Movies
First I'm going to talk about
Paranormal Activities because I care much less about it. Dudes, it really scared me, I went in there with only my dad's fatherly assurance that "Oh it was so messed up I can't talk about this anymore ;_____; " . But the best part for me was, the movie is filmed on a single camera, and after it ended, the projectionist let us sit in the dark with the camera running for about THREE MINUTES. And that was probably the worst. And I got outside and there's an old man standing directly behind my car, staring at it...for a few minutes. Finally he turns and walks away. That was creepy!
I can't
totally defend the ending of it, but it makes sense if you ever listen to a word the girlfriend says. Got home, looked it up for images or something, and realized people are complaining
it's too slow.
REALLY. YOU ARE COMPLAINING A SUSPENSE/HORROR MOVIE....IS TOO SLOW.
To be fair, I really like scenes of just looking at things. I don't know what everyone else's imagination is doing, but I'm looking for things moving in the background and thinking about the possible DEEP meanings and whatever.
Wild Things
Speaking of DEEP. No, really, all the reviews calling this boring, empty, and so on are just...wrong. I mean,
they may have been bored, but gosh man, were you really trying to be bored? I read a review by Movie Mom (or one of them anyway), whose kids were sad that the monsters were sad, and she suggested that the mom was a bad parent, and Max needed therapy. This made me so mad, you know, because she missed the entire point. Most people have read the book, right? Just 10 sentences. And this movie makes it into something more, a very rich, beautiful story that you can't just look at on the surface.
Every little facet of the monsters and their world reflects Max and his world, everything that happens and every reaction is his way of dealing with his problems. He comes out having learned something, and returns to his mom and yes, the soup was still hot. I just--I don't get where everyone's imagination has gone. D:
